Brasília, Brazil —On April 3 and 4, 2009, the 1st Transdisciplinary Forum on Education, Health, and Culture of Peace was held at the World Parliament of Ecumenical Fraternity (the ParlaMundi of the LGW). The event was organized by the José de Paiva Netto Foundation with the support of the CAPEMISA — Seguradora de Vida e Previdência and of the LGE Publishing House.
Professor Rubem Alves, a renowned name in the field of Education in Brazil and abroad, gave the opening lecture of the event in the evening of April 3. The Forum focused on a model of complete education and health care and also counted on the presence of the Secretary of Education, José Luiz Valente, and the Secretary of Health, Augusto de Carvalho, both from the Government of the Federal District. Illustrious lecturers were also present, such as Professor Dr. Antônio Márcio Lisboa, who talked about "The Early Childhood and the Origin of Violence”.
Pedagogue Sueli Periotto presented a thematic panel on the Pedagogy of Affection and the Ecumenical Citizen Pedagogy. In an interview to the Super Good Will Communication Network, she pointed out: "It is a great honor for me to bring this pedagogical proposal by the educator Paiva Netto, which embraces not only the Pedagogy of Affection that involves children up to 10 years old in education and in learning with ecumenical spirituality but also the Ecumenical Citizen Pedagogy that works with students starting at the age 11 (the preadolescents and, in the sequence, the young people also involving the adults, including the elderly people who continue to study, since we are eternal learners before God). In his pedagogical proposal, the educator Paiva Netto considers both students and teachers as eternal spirits”.
The pedagogue also spoke about the teaching method that is applied in the LGW’s educational units. "The Ecumenical Citizen Pedagogy has a unique methodology called the Learning Method through Rational, Emotional and Intuitive Research (MAPREI). This method has brought excellent results to the life of children, youngsters, and adults, encouraging them to unite research with intuition. We have to bear in mind that we must consider Education as an incentive for society to exercise the Solidarity”, she emphasized.
